Sawafi is participating as a Diamond Sponsor in the International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC) 2022, scheduled to be held from February 21st-23rd, 2022 at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center.
The Sawafi, its new drilling division Newsco, and Sawafi Borets, along with Inma Steel are also participating in the conference.
The flagship Oil & gas conference of the Eastern Hemisphere is a collaborative effort among the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE), the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
The 2022 edition, themed ‘Fueling Global Recovery through Sustainable Energy’ is set to showcase upstream sector resilience, technological advancement, and ecosystem evolution in the ongoing critical times, and is exclusively hosted by Saudi Aramco.

Sawafi’s technology has been deployed globally through Newsco over the past 25 years and is positioned as a reliability leader in directional drilling applications.
The Sawafi JV, Sawafi-Borets, signed a key investment commitment with King Salman Energy Park (SPARK) to develop an Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) factory and service center at SPARK to empower the oil & gas and energy sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the GCC.
“Representing a significant contribution to localizing value creation through dedicated industrial development, as part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, our vision is to develop a large ESP servicing and manufacturing facility and distribution center for ESP services in the region and boost equipment exports from the Kingdom. In addition, the company plans to develop unique localized manufacturing capabilities in the Kingdom by implementing pump, motor and motor seals manufacturing localization, advanced testing facility, and special equipment assembly,” noted Talal Al-Binali, General Manager, Sawafi Borets, adding the company plans to invest an estimated $ 30 million over the next 5 years to achieve its goals.
Also participating in the conference, Inma Steel is specialized in Engineered-to-Order process equipment and component manufacturing, mechanical repair, equipment installation, plant turnaround & shutdown services, among others. Approved by Saudi Aramco, SABIC, Ma’aden, and Marafiq, the company has extensive track record of more than 1000 projects working with major regional and international LSTK/EPC contractors and is now exploring upstream manufacturing opportunities.
